I love how fast it can read and write files to and from the hard drive. I can literally transfer a 150 GB game in maybe 2 mins if not less. I really like the product and am glad I got this one. I didn't know which brand to choose so I just stick to my belief that when in doubt always trust or choose Samsung as a brand because they're the most innovative and make the best products and they didn't miss the mark with this SSD either just like I expected, great quality and advanced product that smoothly runs faster than a bullet when I need it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you want top of the line flagship performance for Gen4, this is the SSD to get. Bottom line is that this SSD is blazing fast and is no slouch when it comes to loading games, fileels, apps, or transferring files to and from the drive. The WD SN850x is a close competitor, but what makes the 990 Pro stand out is probbaly the sustained read/write speeds and the Magician software. Samsung Magician is just a great app for anything you need to use or check the status of your Samsung drive or other drives in your system. The only catch is that you cannot clone data to a non-Samsung disk; only from another brand to Samsung, so that's not so convenient.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is an evolving product, Samsung 990 PRO 1TB NVMe SSD, as a leader in the data storage market. Replaced it with an old version, immediately getting 2X data transfer speed. The system loaded very quickly, and the whole system transfer was easy. Samsung provides tools, data migration applications with an easy-to-follow manual, and a monitoring application “Magician” on their website. The real-world feel is much closure to the 990 PRO data specification. It is stable, easy-to-use & install, and fast SSD in the market. Instead of waiting for several minutes, just taking several seconds, it is a game changer in the data storage solution.

My one major downside is drive health. In performance mode, the drive seems to degrade its health rapidly. This may have to do with improper nvme drivers and/or the full performance mode. Hopefully, we see updates to fix the health issues. I recommend to stay in the “standard mode” until a fix is implemented. Otherwise, I’m thoroughly impressed! With fast read/write, as well as sequential, believe this drive has great potential for both creative work as well as gaming!

I was extremely impressed because I use a lot of photo editing software to display some of my creations I make by hand, and this has been able to have the application load without missing a beat. My prebuilt PC had an SSD, but it was ridiculously small with 128gb and was intended only for the operating system but still had some programs installed on it. I would run out of space frequently and the Samsung 990 Pro w/Heatsink worked well with plenty of space for me to use. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for more disk space and faster loading of programs.

It took us one screw driver and about 2 minutes to install the memory drive into the memory expansion slot. After booting up, the system prompted us to format the stick and it took about 30 seconds. Games transferred quickly to the SSD memory and we had more room on the console to run our favorite games. I’m a big fan of the quality construction and the blazing speeds. The pre installed heat sink was a plus and we didn’t have to put any cooling jelly. I highly recommend the 990 PRO to any gamers out there!

These drives provides the most consistent performance as far as the read and write speeds are concerned. I can watch 4k movies on plex with these drives without any issues. Even during the peak loads, these drives works exceptionally well and does not get hot unlike SSD's from other reputed brands, which means increased lifetime of these drives. Additionally these drives are reasonably priced. First benchmark gave me almost 7400 MB/s reads! Writes were at nearly 6900 MB/s! I could tell immediately my rig booted up faster. Game loads were also incredibly fast. The included heatsink with LED is pleasing to look at and is actually visible from my motherboard. The heatsink will be much better than the motherboard shield. I have other Samsung SSDs for storage as well and the magician software helps me track on the health of the drives. Samsung never disappoints on storage devices!

This drive is a piece of junk and Samsung's support for them is even worse. I bought 2 of them for my Alienware R15 system. One for the boot drive and one for the gaming drive. Randomly one or the other drive would just disappear completely from the system until I fully powered it down. If the boot drive disappeared the computer would completely crash. If the gaming drive disappeared I would get booted out of whatever game I was playing. Samsung did attempt to replace the drive after numerous calls, and emails and finally a email to corporate. But it seems that didn't solve the issue. Ended up purchasing a different brand gaming NVME drive and have been rock solid since.

To be honest, I have never really had any issues with any of their products and no, they do not pay me to say this. As far as I'm concerned, a warranty is only as good as the product, and i've never had to use the warranty for anything samsung related. In the end it's up to you, but if you want a superior product with a great history, you can't go wrong with any of their products here.

PlayStation has a list of requirements for an SSD to be capable of handling PS5 games and the 990 Pro easily surpassed all of them. Read speeds were excellent and far beyond what was recommended and I didn’t suffer any problems such as lag or errors when using this SSD. I can easily recommend this SSD for gaming or even in computers. I transferred several games from my internal drive to the Samsung and even though they were several hundred gigs the transfer went through within a couple of minutes which far exceeded my expectations.

Got this SSD new from Samsung as a replacement for a 980 PRO that failed only 18 months after purchase. Since then I've continued to have constant issues with the computer freezing and requiring a reboot on a daily basis (sometimes multiple times) which happens both while the computer is in use and while it's idle. None of this was an issue before the drive replacement (other than when the computer completely died when the original failed). I guess the computer booting back up after a hard reboot, unlike the original drive, is a silver lining; but I would much rather the computer be stable again.

I use it as an OS drive but also for gaming, my computer now boots up super fast and the game loading screens don't take eternity like it used to. I got the heatsink version because my only m.2 slot is under my graphics card on my motherboard, so I was concerned that it might overheat. The heatsink keeps the temperatures in a good range so I don't have to worry about it. I'm using it with a PCI-e 3.0 motherboard, since I haven't upgraded my system yet, it works great with backwards compatibility. I haven't had any problems with it. I recommend it to those looking for a good SSD.

My laptop was booting faster and running quieter as the fan was not going as much as before. Installing it was simple. The only hassles I had were getting the back of my laptop off (which, for some reason, is always a pain) and transferring the OS from the old hard drive to the new one. For some reason, the transferring software had difficulty recognizing the Samsung SSD. But once it was installed and the OS transferred, my laptop was a more enjoyable experience. Definitely worth getting.

The first thing I noticed was the weight. The heatsink is dense and heavy. It dissipates the heat extremely well. The performance is great although I am not able to run at full capacity until my new PCIe 4 computer is finished. I used Samsung's Magician software to control and run the performance numbers. I used the data migration function of the Magician software and it was seamless. The led features of the heatsink make this a gamer's dream to finish off the perfect build.

But I feel that the heatsink is sort if a waste and really doesn't do much. The computer is a bit older and has more firepower in it's hardware because it is for 3d design, so maybe it isn't the heatsink as much as more powerful hardware in a slightly older computer, but on the other side of the coin I definitely feel like it's a once you need heatsink, you need a newer cpu or other hardware or a new computer, and heatsink isnt going to fix that sort of relationship. I still feel that the 980 is top on the market while the 990 is a close second. But if I get another one I don't see a reason for heatsink tbh.

Once the drive was installed, the formatting took about a minute, and then another minute to transfer an 80GB file from one hard drive to the new one. In under 10 minutes I doubled the size of the storage I had available and can now add additional games and content to my machine. It seems that now that I transferred the game to the new Samsung Pro 990 drive, it loads slightly faster than before. Overall I'm very happy with this drive and look forward to the extra space and increased speed!

It fits very well with the heatsink attached to it. Once installed, the PS5 recognized it and formatted it. It now shows the full 1TB available. Now I can finally update my games. Performance: It showed that the max speed was over 6500MB. The loading times are no different than the built in storage. The games run smoothly as normal. I really recommend this upgrade for any PS5 since the built-in storage only gives you about 660GB of usable storage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to my PC gaming rig. Whenever upgrades are available, I have to be an early adopter. Sometimes it's not worth it, but the Samsung 990 Pro was definitely worth it. I'm upgrading from a 980 Pro and the difference in load times is absolutely noticeable. Not to mention my 980 Pro was a 500gb and the 990 Pro is 1tb, so in addition to increasing speed, I doubled storage space. When I say this drive is fast, I mean it's FAST. I will definitely be purchasing the 2tb 990 Pro for my gaming console ASAP. Samsung is absolutely on top of the SSD game right now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The best yet! This is my second nvme drive from Samsung and it keeps getting better and better. I use it as my boot drive and let me tell you that my pc starts up incredibly fast. If I have to access any files on that drive, there is absolutely no wait times. I can use multiple windows open and access them with no worries. I also love the fact that if you download the Samsung magician software, you update it to the latest firmware and even customize the led light on the drive as well. It also matches my pc colors with the red and black design on the drive. Very happy with it and I would definitely recommend this drive to anyone that is looking for a top tier nvme drive that is not only fast but reliable.

The device works both in a pc or in a portable form, but the device really shines hooked directly to your motherboard. Since the drive is very fast it can create a bit of heat so always try and have a thermal plate on it or air flow over it. I use this drive for all of my games and that is it, having a Samsung SDD to run your games will both provide faster more reliable gaming.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this for my PS5 Pro and it works beautifully. Installation is as easy as easy gets. Took maybe 30 seconds. Once installed, you turn the PS5 on and it walks you through the rest automatically. Games run lightning fast, as fast if not faster than the stock SDD the PS5 comes with. I've played extensively for the last few months and have had no issues whatsoever. PS5 doesn't get any hotter than it did before the extra drive was installed, which never got hot to begin with. Very happy customer here. If you're looking to upgrade your PS5 hard drive, this is as good as it gets.

I decided I needed more space when I noticed how much space my Audii Books were taking, so I shopped around and picked up the 4tb 990 Pro w/heatsink while it was on sale. I'm already upset I didn't but at least 1 more, as the amount of data we create only gets larger each year. I did have to remove the heatsink to fit the drive in my Samsung laptop, but I just put the older 980 Pro inside it. Makes for a safer portable backup that way. The 980 Pro was fast. This 990 Pro is visibly faster when copying files. I'd recommend it to anyone in need of saving their data and doing it quickly. If submit a photo, but who wants to see a pocus of a laptop? Lol!

I didn't think id notice a big difference in load times and read write times when id open a file or save or transfer something but it was amazing the difference it made in all those areas. I couldn't go back now that i know how big a difference and how much faster it made my laptop perform. Must buy for sure!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased a 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe with Heatsink for my PS5 and it has been excellent! I got it back in December 2024 and it hasn't given me a single issue. I got it with the Heatsink because I already knew it was going to see a lot of use, I play frequently and have a lot of games. Currently sitting at over 80% capacity used and it still performs efficiently. It doesn't throttle or slow down performance, even on long play sessions. Speed and performance have been consistently excellent. On initial setup, the speed test showed just under 6,600MB/s speeds for my PS5. I've been playing games as demanding as cyberpunk or elden ring and they all play as if they were installed internally, no issues whatsoever.

I already had a few 2TB hard drives, but wanted to move my OS from a 256gb ssd to a larger one. I've had this in my new system for a bit now, and I haven't had any issues so far, and moving my OS to the new ssd breathed some new life into the system. I'm gonna be looking to completely upgrade my system within the next year or so, but will for sure transfer and make use of this still. Samsung memory is great, im probably gonna end up buying them in the future save for maybe some NAS hard drives.

I got the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB variant in 2024 and the speeds were super fast paired with my Asus ROG Strix G16 gaming unit. Read and write speeds were always consistent and the Samsung Magic app is a nice touch to check the drive's temps and keep it up-to-date with the latest firmware, very efficient piece of software. I have had no issues and failures with the drive over the past 2 years of purchasing it and it has moved between 2 devices so I would figure it is very reliable. My next investment is to get the 9100 Pro 8TB variant to store my huge catalogue of video content.

It now runs 3x faster than it did before, and doesn't overheat either! It's amazing for gaming. I can't even believe it's even the same laptop honestly. It was also very easy to set up. I cloned over my HDD, plugged it in and it was ready to go! The Samsung Magician app is not required, but it makes it very easy to see your SSD's health and stats. I really wish I bought more than one lol I love it so much. I would love to upgrade more PC parts from Samsung in the future!

Sequential read speeds up to 7,450 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 6,900 MB/s over a PCIe 4.0 slot. Installing windows took less than 10 minutes, games are loading noticeably faster than before and file transfers are maxing out my mechanical hard drives. The Samsung Magician software is pretty nice too. It gives you a dashboard for monitoring health, optimizing performance, scheduling backups and such. Really happy so far with this drive and well worth the purchase.

Especially once I got the PlayStation 5 pro and put it in that system, it really helped the game and the frame rate. Everything everything was moving so much smoother, so much faster. And so that's why I am interested in getting a new one. And I highly suggest that u choose the Samsung sSD with heat sync, gotta have the heat sink this time. I warm and go with the newest and I don't know if they can go above 2 gigs or 4, but I hope I could have a 4 gig 1 installed. That would be really nice, but 2 would be fine.

I knew that Gen 4 drives were faster, but this is just bananas. My computer starts up so quickly that it feels like I cannot get my finer off of the power button before it is booted. Software: Samsung Magician is a must install. It give you peace of mind being able to check on the drives performance and health. It also gives you an easy way to keep track of the firmware on the drives to make sure that is up to date as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've always have been a Samsung fan to having their 850 EVO ssd in my old desktop PC to having the Samsung Z Fold, to the galaxy watch and earbuds. I really needed more space on my laptop and this was a perfect upgrade. Installation was simple since this was my first M.2 NVMe ssd, and the use of Samsung Magician software you can use for cloning the drive is great. I could tell that the SSD that came with the laptop vs the 990 pro, once I booted up windows I could tell a difference. I usually have multiple browsers open or gaming on my laptop and with this new gen 4 drive really made things feel really quick. This Samsung 990 Pro was so amazing that I might actually buy the 2TB version for my second slot on my laptop!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have to say, I'm glad I bought these when I did! The 990 Pro 2TB is fast. Pairing up four of these in RAID 0 on a PCIe Gen5 motherboard, I get 22,000 Read speed, and pretty close to that in write speeds. Random R/W is all over the place, but the thoughtput is still higher than a single drive and has been highly reliable. I think combining four in this configuration may not have been the most cost effecient, at the time, but they are highly efficient drives without stepping into the 9100 Pro at PCIe Gen 5. I have a fifth for my OS and couldn't be happier!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I actually own three 990 pros and I love them but without a bit of work on the end users side it could turn out to be a pain, I wasn't aware of the magician software until a few months after purchase. It works like a beauty in my ROG strix, however it seems a tad slow on my pc but I'll admit I think it's time for a new motherboard, my boot drive idles high constantly and I have a 4090 and 9 5700x with a kraken. I'm not sure if the 990 pro is known for thermal throttling but if so in the coming months I'd definitely consider even getting another with a heatsink.

It's snappier, everything instantly opens and closes and running games and designing software loads extremely faster! I didn't think going from 980p to 990p would make a difference but it really does. The power saving and cooling features have improved dramatically from its predecessor so much so that I have to get one for my gaming console without a doubt! So yes, I do recommend the Samsung's 990 Pro.

This has kicked up or refresh rate but dramatic speeds.. games are loading faster and smoother,the computer boot up was lightening speed..no waiting like we had been experiencing. The video processing speed was much better than our computer had previously had as was file transfers! I can't say enough good things about the Samsung 990 PRO w/Heatsink PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 1TB! My PC boots in seconds, games load super fast, and big downloads/installations don’t feel like they take forever anymore. It runs cool in my case and hasn’t given me a single issue.Install was simple: pop it in the M.2 slot, install Windows, and go. Samsung’s Magician software is handy for checking drive health and updates, but honestly I just set it up once and forgot about it. Currently i have it installed in a M4 Mac Mini dock going across a 10gbs usb-c and it is fully saturating that connection. I am looking at getting a separate thunderbolt 4 SSD enclosure so i can take advantage of the full speed this drive can produce. The drive was easy to format, has managed heat well, and has been rock solid in regards to usage and stability. Huge fan of the Samsung line of SSD's and this one is currently sitting at the top of all of them that i have used and tried.

It will work with any modern CPU from the last few years as well, which is a good thing! You have pretty good storage size options depending on your budget and needs as well! The heatsink does a great job at keeping it cool even under demanding tasks! And the new Samsung magician app has an easy to use interface where you can update the firmware, check the health and also the temps of the SSD! All in all it's a great product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the Samsung Evo 990 Pro 4TB SSD and I have to say this is, if not the best ssd for gaming and it is super speedy. This beast can last you years of daily use before wearing down and the transfer speeds are really fast rather than normal ssds (I always get an average of 5GBps lowest speeds on heavy transfers and 7GBps for basic stuff) and those that are made for gaming and file transfer, with this SSD Samsung has absolutely won out every other SSD you can get for this price range. I would recommend anyone this SSD for gaming and it basic uses.

That was till I started using my computer for normal activity and saw a difference without having to run benchmarks and just look at the numbers. I also utilized the supplied software from Samsung to move the files and OS to the new drive. It was super simple. I highly recommend this SSD not only because it is fast but also that the supplied software makes it easy to move everything over to it and set it up.

There are others that are faster, yes, but they cost way more usually. These ones are also just really reliable. And it's more than enough speed to play any game you want, or download anything in general without a bottle neck. Plus they're also great for PS5s and Xbox as well. I use mine for my PC and it integrates nicely, doesn't overheat or have any major glitches. I've also never once got corrupted data either. Overall just a good SSD for the money.

I've had the same drive for 3 years now, and it MUST be how efficient it runs, because I've ran through 2 different SSDs during that time, and on top of that... Removing the cover(s) of the PS5 made me aware of the fact that you need to vacuum and/or blow out the dust from time to time. :| The system recognized the 990 pro immediately upon starting. Formatting was very quick and seamless. I now have an extra 2tb and don’t need to remove games when I download a new one or have to perform a large update. Loading times seem to be comparable to system storage. So far so good. Quite pleased with my purchase. Now I wish I would have splurged for the 4tb. :/

I replaced my RAM with new modules adding 32 GB. A clean install of Windows 11 PRO. I did overlook my CPU and GPU. This unit performs as well as the new Strix Scars, especially the 2024 models. My D:/ drive is a Samsung 980 PRO, which was my original C:/ drive. Excellent upgrade path. My 3 year old laptop runs as good and better than many of the recent, new, High End Gaming Laptops. I bought two 990 Pro to RAID 0 for my business laptop. Both failed within 6 months. I bought two replacements and rebuilt the RAID. 5 months after my 3rd and 4th 990 Pro were purchased, the 3rd drive has failed. Not really sure if I go and buy a FIFTH! drive because it's the easiest solution and helps me avoid downtime rather than doing a complete system rebuild with another brand of NVME. The whole point of my build is high uptime and no data loss. Samsung's 990 Pro does not allow that to happen. Massively disappointing.

I've had several other very reputable brands, and all of them have failed over time within a couple years. I've only ever had 1 samsung storage device fail, and it was a cheap SD card. I have never had a problem with the 20+ Samsung SSDs I've had. When you need reliability, Samsung is the choice. It has been a great way to increase my storage while maintaining high transfer speeds. The Samsung magician app helps me monitor the health of the drive along with any future mass data transfers. One day I will swap the os of my computer to this 2tb drive and I know it will be easy thanks to the software. I've done a similar switch before using the Samsung software and it is one of my top reasons to get the ssd besides the performance and price.

Integrate the 990 Pro with the Samsung Magician software and you have a complete solution. I was hesitant to buy at first with the initial reports of quick degradation of life expectancy. Samsung responded quickly, finding the cause was the firmware. My drive came with the latest firmware and so far so good. I had hoped it would fit in my new top end 2023 laptop. However the heatsink is substantial and it would not physically fit. Note; very few laptops can accommodate a SSD NVMe with heatsink, just too much real estate. I put the drive in one of my desktops, running an I7 with 64 Gb of memory. The drive is a performer!

The red & black heatsink design with RBG lighting is a badads futuristic design that belongs in a pS5 or PC. Performance is top notch with read speeds over 7,000 MB/s and write speeds just under at around 6,900 MB/s. You will only get these speeds on newer PCs that support Gen4 PCIe but with Gen3 the drives are still plenty fast for the vast majority of users. The 1,200 TBw endurance and 1.5 MTBF ratings are good as well, you will get many years of use out of this drive with no worries of failure. Installation is straightforward and no different from any other m.2 drive. The blazing performance of this drive is especially great for content producers and those that work with large graphic or video files. I haven't experienced any problems or cons with this drive so far.

I installed Win10 on it and it took a blink of an eye (literally). I had to install it again just to make sure it really did it! The performance is blistering fast and comes with a nice 5 year warranty coverage. Design is thin yet sturdy. The 1tb version good enough for an OS install, software installs, and several game installs. I’ve installed this as my secondary drive to install my games and save documents. Man the data transfers are just stupid fast and how fast it loads games is a game changer. No more waiting like on spinning drives. Im hoping Samsung releases 4tb+ NVMe drives in the future. Definitely keeping Samsung NVMe drives in all of my PC builds.

Incredibly fast and reliable. Still going strong. They do run hot. Definitely recommend a some sort of heatsink or way to cool these. Have them installed in my asus rog strix 18 which I bought brand new at the same time. Still have the original ssd sticks as backup which hopefully will not need to use. Recommend for laptops that have room for a heatsink.

It was night and day, booting up was instantaneous, opening my day to day office applications were a breeze, I could load PDFs and large documents in a snap, this is huge for work from home. As I depend on my workstaion to do all my day to day, and having this speed is amazing. I can multi task and run all the demanding applications with out being worried about loading or slow operation. I had my husband do a speed test and I could not believe the massive read and write improvement over my old SSD drive. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This top of the line NVMe drive from Samsung continues their legacy of producing top of the line solid state drives. The speeds are around 7000Mbps read and write if installed in a desktop or laptop that supports PCIe 4.0 x4. I first tested the drive in a external enclosure and then moved it over to my laptop and getting it installed and setup was no problem. No software comes in the box but you can get Samsung's Magician software from their website. That software is a must if you want to manage, monitor, or customize your drive. Make sure to keep your drive firmware updated too as those can often provide fixes for existing or newly discovered issues. This drive has been great so far and I'll continue to use it as my primary boot drive. Gaming load times have noticeably improved for me too!

The 990 PRO is the top of the line model from Samsung and should the a staple for anyone looking to build a high performance system or to provide a meaningful upgrade to an existing system. the 990 Pro has a 50% than the previous 980 pro with read speeds of 7,450 and write speeds of 6,900 MB/s. This is currently the best SSD on the market

This is the fastest snappiest SSD I have ever used! The little red light on the device also feeds my inner edge lord. I have found that the Samsung magician app is also very helpful for diagnostics and drive info. DO NOT USE BITLOCKER WITH THIS. The drive supports hardware encryption which is faster, more secure, but a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE pain to set up once you start using the drive. So don't do as I did and have to reimage your machine. Set up encryption before doing anything else.

Everything from game loads to video editing just feels instant, like your storage stopped being a bottleneck overnight. The fact that it fits in slim laptops and the PS5 despite holding 4 whole terabytes is honestly impressive engineering. If you want the best and you want it to last, this is the one to get.
